Kevin Fredricks, widely known as by his stage name, KevOnStage, got his start on YouTube. He is a standup comedian who took the internet by storm, when he began sharing funny takes on pop culture news, filming segments like “Ask A White Guy”, and creating church skits with his friends. Some of his viral videos include the different types of holy ghost dances, churchy saying, and …
Kevin was one of the first people to make church memes popular. He collected videos from church services and events that were hilarious, and put them out to the public so Christians and people who understood church culture could appreciate and enjoy.
We first discovered KevOnStage through The Playmakers YouTube channel. Kevin Fredricks, Jason Fredricks, and Ant Davis created black and church-related skits that made the Christian community crack up laughing.
Some of the Playmakers’ most popular videos included “Stuff Black Parents Say”, “Stuff Black Church Girls Say”, and “10 Types of Preachers”. These videos have over 4 million views, and helped to catapult the young comedians into successful careers.
In September of 2022, Kevin’s older brother Jason Fredricks suddenly passed away. Kev shared the heartbreaking news on his Instagram profile, and asked for prayer for his family.
Jason had assumed the more behind the scenes role of business manager, producer, and creative consultant.
KevOnStage posted several times about his brother and how he’d inspired him to do standup comedy. He said that he plans to keep going because of him, and we’re grateful. Life gets rough, no doubt, and laughter is good for the soul.
Now, KevOnStage is the proud owner of KevOnStage Studios, a film production studio that produces a variety of shows and other programming. He launched an app/network that exclusively houses some of his productions.
