T.D. Jakes Stable After Suffering Health Scare During Sunday Service: UPDATE

T.D. Jakes Suffers Slight Health Incident at Potters House Dallas

The internet was set ablaze, yesterday morning, when Bishop T.D. Jakes suffered what his family is calling a “slight health incident” during Potters House Dallas Sunday service. Reports say that the incident took place after Jakes delivered his sermon, and was nearing the end of a prayer.

In the video, the bishop’s speech becomes noticeably slower in pace, and after uttering the words, “let them go in peace” he stands in silence, looking as if something is wrong.

Later, in a social media post, Jakes’ daughter Sarah Jakes Roberts and her husband Toure Roberts addressed the public, seemingly grateful to God that the situation wasn’t worse. They shared that their father is doing well and recovering well. Toure even joked that they’re having a hard time getting him to sit down.

Believers across the US and beyond are staying prayerful for the full recovery of Bishop Jakes.

Bishop T.D. Jakes, born Thomas Dexter Jakes on June 9, 1957, in South Charleston, West Virginia, is a renowned pastor, author, filmmaker, and influential leader in the Christian community. He is the founder and senior pastor of The Potter’s House, a Dallas-based megachurch with a congregation of over 30,000 members. Known for his dynamic preaching and impactful messages, Jakes has become one of the most recognizable figures in modern Christianity.

Jakes started his ministry in the 1980s in West Virginia, where he grew a small church from ten members to hundreds. In 1996, he relocated to Dallas, Texas, and established The Potter’s House, which quickly became a spiritual hub for people seeking faith, inspiration, and community. The church is known for its multifaceted ministries, including outreach programs for the homeless, youth, and families.

Beyond the pulpit, Jakes is a prolific author, having penned numerous books on faith, personal growth, and leadership, including bestsellers like Woman, Thou Art Loosed! and Instinct: The Power to Unleash Your Inborn Drive. His works often emphasize empowerment, healing, and unlocking one’s God-given potential.

In addition to his literary contributions, Jakes has made significant strides in entertainment. He has produced and acted in faith-based films such as Woman Thou Art Loosed, Jumping the Broom, and Miracles from Heaven. These films bring Christian values and stories to mainstream audiences, blending faith with culture.

Jakes is celebrated not only for his spiritual leadership but also for his commitment to bridging divides across racial, generational, and cultural lines. His teachings emphasize unity, hope, and the transformative power of faith.
